So, You're Thru Hiking the Pacific Crest Trail? Why?

Updated: Mar 17, 2022

If you're reading this you must want to know why I have decided to take 5 months to walk from Mexico to Canada. I've had to answer that question more times than I can count. Each time I'm asked "So, what are you doing? Why are you doing this?", I pause. The first part is easy to answer, but the second question freezes me.

The 'Why'

Why am I doing this? I think for a moment ... but my answer is always the same.

I'm doing this to test how I perceive myself and what I am capable of. I'm doing this to explore some of the most beautiful places this country has to offer. I'm doing this to experience the intense highs and the even more fierce lows that can only be felt through hardship. I'm doing this to understand what it means to be a thru hiker.

In addition to all of that, I want to make sure that I share these moments on the trail with all of you. I want to share the moments that inspire me and I want to share the moments that make me question everything.

At the end of the trail, above all else, I want to be certain that I made the most out of every mile.

I hope I have made my 'Why' clear. I can't wait to show you the 'How'.

Let's stay in touch
